Purpose first
Use recipient information for a clear and legitimate communication purpose rather than for unrelated or unexpected campaigns.
Compliance & Responsible Messaging
AI Tech Messaging is designed for legitimate organisational communication. Clients are expected to use recipient data responsibly, use approved Sender IDs, respect opt-out requests and avoid deceptive, harmful or unsolicited messaging practices.
Core principles
Good messaging practice combines a legitimate communication purpose, accurate recipient data, clear sender identity, appropriate consent or other lawful basis, and a practical way for recipients to stop marketing messages.
Use recipient information for a clear and legitimate communication purpose rather than for unrelated or unexpected campaigns.
Maintain recipient lists that are relevant to your organisation and communication purpose.
Use an approved Sender ID that helps recipients understand who is communicating with them.
Marketing recipients should have a clear and practical way to opt out, and opt-out requests should be honoured.
Consent, transparency & opt-out
Kenya's data protection framework places obligations on organisations that use personal data for direct marketing. Clients should make sure their collection, notice, consent and opt-out processes fit the purpose for which they are messaging recipients.
The platform provides messaging controls and onboarding checks, but each client remains responsible for the legality of its recipient lists, content, consent process and communications.
Organisations using personal data for commercial or direct-marketing purposes should review the Data Protection Act, 2019 and applicable regulations and guidance from the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner. Sector-specific requirements may also apply.
Sender identity
Sender IDs should represent the organisation or brand that is actually communicating. AI Tech's onboarding process separates Sender ID review from operational activation so a messaging account is not treated as live merely because onboarding has reached 100%.
Review Sender ID RequirementsRequest a Sender ID that clearly relates to your organisation, service or recognised brand.
Business and administrator documents used during Sender ID onboarding should be accurate and current.
Do not represent a requested Sender ID as approved until the relevant approval process is complete.
Suppression & list hygiene
Suppression controls are a practical safeguard for responsible direct marketing. They help prevent a recipient who has opted out from being re-added casually to future marketing campaigns.
Prohibited misuse
Accounts may be restricted or suspended where activity creates material risk, violates platform rules or is inconsistent with legitimate business messaging.
Do not use a Sender ID, message format or content designed to make recipients believe the message came from an unrelated organisation.
Do not send fraudulent offers, phishing links, false payment requests or messages intended to obtain credentials or money dishonestly.
Do not continue marketing to recipients who have clearly requested that the communication stop.
Do not use contact information for a materially different purpose without considering the legal basis and recipient expectations.
Do not attempt to avoid Sender ID, account, suppression or operational restrictions built into the service.
Messaging that is unlawful, fraudulent, threatening or otherwise prohibited by applicable law or telecommunications requirements is not permitted.
Shared responsibility
AI Tech manages platform access and operational safeguards. The client determines who is contacted, why they are contacted and what message is sent.
